Our story

Holiday Inn Darling Harbour is a heritage building constructed in 1890 as a wool warehouse for John Bridge & Co Ltd, one of the leading wool businesses in Australia. The construction of the building located in Haymarket reflects the role of the area at that time as the coastal shipping points, the railways hubs, and the produce market. At the time of its construction, the former John Bridge Warehouse was the tallest building in the area. In fact, in historical photographs up until World War II, the building was still a prominent landmark in the area. The building was converted into a hotel in 1989 with major modifications including the addition of an extra storey within the building. The facades on the Northern side of the hotel next to Harbour Street, Factory Street and Kimber Lane were all retained.
